Andrel Anthony, a true freshman from East Lansing, made an early impression in Michigan's game against Michigan State.

Big plays are common in this game, especially early on. Last season, Michigan State set the tone with big plays down the field, and in 2018, Donovan Peoples-Jones scored a long touchdown and did the Paul Bunyan pose.
Anthony did not do that, and there is obviously a long way to go, but for a team known for running the football, it's difficult to imagine a better start.
And it has to be sweet for Anthony. He is from East Lansing and is a three-star recruit. He was expected to commit to Michigan State, but Michigan football made a strong push for him and won his commitment.
He was also one of the guys who practiced late after long road trips.
The play also reminded me of Mario Manningham's long touchdown pass against Notre Dame in 2006. U-M hasn't beaten a top-10 team since then, and the Wolverines are off to a strong start on Saturday.
